In 1769, Baret, an expert botanist, became the first woman to circumnavigate Earth. She pretended to be a man since the French Navy only allowed men to sail; her gender was discovered during the voyage. Baret collected thousands of exotic plants specimens during her journey.

    • I need to read it; I happened upon the book a few months ago, and it made me want to learn more about her. She’s just so interesting. I think her science story is cool, but her personal story could be a reality show!
