Fund For Teachers: Learning Without Borders

Fund for Teachers

Who:

Fund for Teachers awards PreK-12 teachers fellowships for summer experiential learning to enrich their role as lead learner in the classroom. Fund for Teachers grants validate teachers’ professionalism and leadership, as well. Since 2001, Fund for Teachers has invested $22 million in nearly 6,000 teachers, transforming grants into growth for teachers and their students.

Eligibility Criteria for Teachers:

  • Employed full-time as a PreK-12th grade teacher and spends at least 50% of their work week in direct instruction with students in a classroom or classroom-like setting;
  • Intends to continue teaching in the consecutive school year; and
  • Will have at least three years’ experience as a preK-12th grade teacher at the end of the school year.

What:

Fund for Teachers supports educators’ efforts to develop skills, knowledge, and confidence that impact student achievement. By trusting teachers to design unique fellowships, Fund for Teachers grants validate teachers’ professionalism and leadership, as well.

Each Fund for Teachers (FFT) fellowship is as unique as the teacher who designed it. FFT awards grants-up to $5,000 for individuals, or $10,000 for teams. Fund for Teachers fellowships have taken place in over 135 countries on every continent, empowering teachers to explore countless ideas, terrains, and cultures.

After navigating the globe conducting field research, attending seminars, volunteering with community organizations or observing best practices, FFT Fellows inspire school communities with enriched experiences and insights. Each fellowship is as unique as the teacher who designs it; and regardless of destination or discipline, our Fellows return to classrooms inspired by the pursuit of ideas and cultures on all seven continents.

When and Where:

The Fund for Teachers fellowship application became available online in October. The application deadline is Thursday, January 31, 2017 at 5pm CST. Awardees will be notified in April and fellowships take place during the summer. FFT Fellowships can take place anywhere in the world. Dream Big!

Why:

FFT believes that supporting teachers’ active participation in their own professional growth, positively impacts student learning and achievement.

Fund for Teachers enriches the personal and professional growth of teachers by recognizing and supporting them as they identify and pursue opportunities around the globe that will have the greatest impact on their practice, the academic lives of their students, and on their school communities.
