If We Were Having Coffee: Catch Up

If we were having coffee, you’d probably ask me what’s being going on since we haven’t had a coffee chat in a while. I’d probably whine and tell you all about The Great Overwhelming of 2015. The Great Overwhelming of 2015 was a crazy busy time in my life. As you know, I am the elementary science specialist for my district. Last school year was the first year in my new position. As a specialist, I am a 12-month employee aka no more summers off. I figured that since school is out during the summer, it’d be slow time for me, and I’d have a lot of down time to complete some big projects.

Boy was I not right!

I'm ever wrong

June 2015 began a period of me just barely keeping my head above water both personally and professionally. This Overwhelming would last 6 long months. The Great Overwhelming included: big projects, meetings, work trips, meetings, grant writing, birthdays, my birthday month, professional development projects, meetings, family stuff, friends stuff, meetings, reports, more work trips, classroom visits, networking opportunities, meetings, grandfather passing, work friend passing, people I care about having people they care about passing, winning an awesome award, developing district assessments, meetings, friends getting married, work functions, family functions, social functions, working on a really exciting project on a nation level, my brother being deployed, volunteering, implementing new science & STEM initiatives in my district, attending conferences, less social media-ing, and meetings. In short, life happened in a big way.

If we were having coffee, I’d tell you that I in no way regret anything that was thrown my way. Yeah, it was tough and my heart is still a little broken, but I’m glad that I had so many things to do that took my mind off of some of the sad things that have happened. I’m also glad that I have amazing and supportive friends, family, and coworkers. I’m a pretty lucky girl.

While we sipped our coffee, I’d tell you that today and tomorrow evening are dedicated to Christmas shopping (online).  As usual, I am behind, and I’m being lazy about getting my act together. I really don’t know why I don’t learn my lesson. I do the same thing year after year so I can’t blame it on The Great Overwhelming of 2015. I mean, I’m totally blaming it on that, but it is less than truthful.

Throne of Lies

I’d want to vent about some of the new, dumb changes that my blog host, WordPress, has made. Then, I’d reconsider and decide to save that for another visit. I’ve already gabbed too much, and I’d much rather hear about you.

If we were having coffee, what would you tell me has been up with you?

  1. I can certainly understand being overwhelmed. That’s what has happened to me! Other than the stuff on my coffeeshare post from yesterday, not much new but I did enjoy a great breakfast with my five year old grandson. We went to a small cafe (The Carver Cafe which was in a few scenes in the first Twilight movie) about a mile from home. Nice and warm in there. He chose to sit next to me instead of across from me and we talked and counted all the Christmas ornaments we could see in the place from our table. Oh, and he had his favorite…hot chocolate with LOTS of whipped cream…it’s a treat he only gets when he’s with me!

  2. Nice to see you back around here! Sounds like you have indeed had a busy time of it, but it sounds as though it hasn’t all been bad. Hope that you’re able to get some much needed relaxation soon!
