Who Needs Fame and Fortune?

I listened to my teacher and went beyond and above.

This post comes from a blog I love called Humans of New York.

When I first read this post on the HONY blog, I had a little teacher envy. The story being told in the post is larger than that one picture and quote. I’m not sure why that little girl won that ribbon, but I know that red ribbon came with dedication, hard work, perseverance, and probably a few tears.

It’s moments like these that make all the politics, obstacles, and other professional issues worth it. Watching students accomplish a goal, apply new knowledge, or achieve success is the best feeling in the world. Whether it is finally understanding a hard concept or winning an award- it is the learning journey, growth, and accomplishments I love.

The journey is not always easy. Honestly, it rarely is. It is a lot of hard work, but it is always worth it. And that is why I teach.

It’s the best job in the world.
